Change Management
Project acceptance criteria, which mark the end of a project, don’t always align with the desired outcomes. Often, outcomes become evident once users fully adapt to a new way of working, and the synergy between people, systems, and procedures begins to flow seamlessly. For example, consider an ERP system implementation. While going live is a significant milestone, the true purpose lies in achieving benefits like real-time accounting and improved cost data.
Two key considerations:
- Measurable Outcomes: Even if certain outcomes are realistically achievable after the Go-Live date, it’s essential to make them measurable. Quantifying progress ensures alignment with project goals.
- Change Adoption: Successful outcomes depend on people embracing the required changes. If people not fully adopt the change, the envisaged outcomes will not be realized, and in fact the change project failed even if the (technical) project´s acceptance criteria were achieved. To prevent this from happening we strongly suggest always to add a change management component in your projects.
